SOLUTIONS · BY INDUSTRY

Solutions by industry — pick the operation you need to make self-managing.

Embedded hardware, edge firmware, and distributed orchestration software, pre-validated against the operating realities of five heavy verticals. The same engineering bench; deployment profiles tuned to your yard, line, substation, flight line, or right-of-way.

FIVE VERTICALS · ONE BENCH

Five operations we ship against.

  1. 01 Manufacturing & Discrete Assembly Line-side inference, OEE, machine health
  2. 02 Logistics & Ports Yard automation, RTLS, crane telematics
  3. 03 Utilities & Smart City Substation telemetry, lighting, water
  4. 04 Defense & Aerospace Flight-line, expeditionary, contested comms
  5. 05 Oil & Gas · Mining · Rail Hazardous-area, wayside, rolling stock
01 / MANUFACTURING

Line-side inference and machine health, without a PLC rip-out.

The operational problem. High-mix plants are drowning in sensor data that never reaches the maintenance or quality systems that need it. Existing PLCs are oversubscribed, vendor telemetry is locked, and a full rip-and-replace isn't in this year's capex. You need inference at the cell, not in a dashboard five hops away.

Case A · Vibration-conditioned maintenance

Three-axis MEMS + on-edge FFT inference on injection-molding cells. Model retraining runs locally on each gateway; alerts land in the existing CMMS via OPC UA. 8 plants, 1,140 cells.

Case B · Vision-guided defect triage

2D line-scan cameras stream into Pervasive Edge Linux gateways running quantized defect classifiers; suspect parts are physically diverted via a discrete I/O path, not a network round-trip. Food & beverage tier-1 supplier.

Case C · Energy-aware OEE

Per-machine kWh + cycle counter reconciled against MES orders to surface true OEE without a single source of truth migration. Validated at a Tier-1 automotive supplier since 2022.

02 / LOGISTICS & PORTS

Yard, gate, and crane telemetry that survives a steel canyon.

The operational problem. Containers, trailers, and chassis don't stop moving for your Wi-Fi to authenticate. Coverage is patchy, GNSS gets multipath-nuked between stacks of containers, and operator-grade uptime means a network drop cannot stall a crane.

Case A · RTLS for chassis and trailers

UWB anchors on yard light poles + battery tags that report position through our mesh protocol — works when LTE drops. Two North American intermodal yards, 11,000 tagged assets.

Case B · Quay crane anti-sway & telemetry

Edge controllers sample spreader IMU at 1 kHz and feed both the anti-sway loop and a parallel analytics stream; no shared single-point-of-failure with the safety PLC. Container terminal, Port of Singapore operator ecosystem.

Case C · Cold-chain integrity

Reefer telematics with local breach detection — alerts fire from the gateway in <200 ms, well before satellite uplink reconnects. Pharma cold-chain forwarder, three continents.

03 / UTILITIES & SMART CITY

Substation-grade telemetry, streetlight-aware, water-meter honest.

The operational problem. Utility and municipal OT teams are asked to instrument more assets every year with no new headcount and no tolerance for service interruptions. Devices go in for 15+ years, sit on comms that aren't getting better, and have to remain secure through three administrations.

Case A · Distribution-substation DA gateways

IEC 61850-capable gateways bridge legacy relays into a secure telemetry stream without modifying the protection scheme. Investor-owned utility, 320 substations.

Case B · Adaptive street lighting

Cellular + LoRaWAN streetlight controllers dim based on pedestrian and traffic density inferred on-device; over-the-air security patches shipped monthly. Three mid-size U.S. municipalities.

Case C · AMR / AMI bridge for water

Battery-friendly mesh collectors that read existing meters and forward to the utility's head-end without a forklift upgrade. Regional water utility, 180k endpoints.

04 / DEFENSE & AEROSPACE

Expeditionary edge for environments that don't have a data center.

The operational problem. Forward operating bases, flight lines, and test ranges need real situational awareness with very little connectivity, very strict supply-chain provenance, and very little room for a truck-roll when something doesn't boot.

Case A · Flight-line ground-support telemetry

Hardened gateways stream aircraft ground-handling events into maintenance systems while disconnected; sync on re-link. U.S. DoD program, sole-source supplier status.

Case B · Contested-environment mesh

Self-healing mesh radios with on-device traffic shaping so a node loss doesn't blackhole the rest of the cluster. Two U.S. DoD programs.

Case C · Test-range instrumentation

Time-synchronized telemetry nodes for range safety and post-flight analysis; deterministic network behavior under load. Major U.S. test range since 2023.

05 / OIL & GAS · MINING · RAIL

Hazardous-area compute, wayside telemetry, and rolling-stock brains.

The operational problem. Right-of-way and extraction sites live under vibration, temperature, and certification regimes that kill consumer-grade hardware in a season. Sensors and actuators are scattered across tens of kilometers, and outages cost real money per minute.

Case A · Pipeline compressor-station edge

Class I Div 2 gateways running ML on compressor vibration and gas-quality data; comms via private LTE with store-and-forward on outage. Midstream operator, 240 sites.

Case B · Autonomous haulage dispatch assist

Edge inference for traffic and collision-avoidance augmentation on mixed autonomous / manned haul fleets. Open-pit mine, three production benches.

Case C · Wayside & on-board rail

Trackside controllers and on-board event recorders synchronized over a wayside mesh; certifiable to EN 50155. European freight operator, 410 locomotives.

CROSS-VERTICAL FIT

One engineering bench across five industries.

If your operation doesn't look exactly like one of the five above, that's the first thing we should talk about. Pervasive Systems co-designs from proof-of-concept to fleet rollout on programs that look nothing like our reference deployments — that's the whole point of selling engineers, not products.

Our reference platforms in PEL, our mesh networking stack, and our secure onboarding pipeline are the shared substrate. Your operational constraints — hazardous-area certification, contested-comms requirements, substation cybersecurity overlays, plant-floor safety regimes — are the variables we tune against, not the reason to start over. Tell us the constraint that's been blocking you.
